as acronis true image does provide the full version to be installed on the PC, this is very complex part and does install very deeply to the system, number of drivers and services needs to run for this to operate half way.
This program then will create itself a portable version, that means it is a bootable media with its own operating system on board and has to be run from that boot media.
There is absolutely no use what for ever for acronis true image to be in portable format as it will have no function at all, apart probably from the image browser, where one could look for some files in an image created before with the acronis true image.

it does not look like portable at all. It starts to install lot of things to the OS and all the drivers of course too.

them in first place? You have to have the original SW to create them, so this SW can also read or use them
